NICOLAI Klindt has admitted Robins boss Alun Rossiter may well have done him a favour by dropping him earlier in the season.

The Dane returns to Blunsdon tonight as a guest for Nick Morris in the Robins’ clash with Leicester, less than two months after Rossiter let him go due to a disappointing start to the season.

Despite having to sack his mechanic and take on caring for his bikes himself after being dropped, Klindt was eventually fixed up with Scunthorpe in the Premier League and has been scoring well for the Scorpions ever since as he’s shot up to number one.

Klindt also finished second in the opening round of the Danish Championship to earn himself a place in the Grand Prix qualifiers, admitting the wake up call given to him by Rossiter may have been exactly what he needed.

“I don’t know if it will be weird coming back but I don’t think about it in that way,” he said.

“I think Rosco may have done me a favour by dropping me earlier in the season because it made me realise that I need to work three or four times as hard and I’ve gone and worked more on my bikes and more on myself.

“Since I’ve left Swindon I’ve progressed a lot and I’ve been scoring really well. I know it’s in the Premier League but I’ve still been scoring around 12 every time.

“I’m just waiting to get a chance in the Elite League and I want to score as many points as I can.”

Tonight presents Klindt with a chance to advertise his services to potential Elite League suitors, and it’s a chance he’s determined to take.

“I don’t know why I shouldn’t score some good points and although they’re near the bottom of the league it will be a hard meeting.

“I’ve not heard from any Elite League teams recently although I think I’ve been doing pretty well, but nobody is looking and nobody has been able to fit me in because of the schedule.

“I’m looking to get as many guest bookings as I can and that would suit me better.

“It might be the phone rings tomorrow and I get offered a doubling up place which is perfect.”
