SWINDON Croquet Club enjoyed another close match in their Golf League contest with Cheltenham but slipped to a narrow loss.
In the four doubles games Swindon won two and lost two, then, in the singles competition, Teresa Hill, Elaine Wheeler (2), Bill Marner, Tony Mayer, Garry Douel and Wendy White all won their games for Swindon. Tony Mayer drew another, meaning the scores were locked at 9.5-9.5 going into the final game.
Hill was playing the final game against Rachel Smith from Cheltenham and the scores were level at six hoops each as the contest reached the business end.
The match went down to a golden hoop which, unfortunately for Swindon, Smith took to win the game for her side.
