MELKSHAM swimmer Rachel Williams reached the semi finals of the women's 100m backstroke in her first Commonwealth Games in Glasgow this morning.
Williams, 20, was 13th fastest in the heats, clocking 1:02.98 to finish fourth behind England's Lauren Quigley in heat three at Tollcross Swimming Centre. The semi finals take place tonight.
The Team Bath swimmer is competing in an increased programme in Glasgow, having originally just been selected for the 4x100m freestyle relay.
Instead, after bowing out in the heats of the women's 200m freestyle yesterday, Williams is also slated to go in the 200m backstroke, 200m individual medley and the 4x200m freestyle relay during the course of this weekend.
