Yadav keen to get elusive ton

VIBHOR Yadav is desperate to put an end to a two-year century drought, but the Swindon all-rounder’s recent contributions to his team’s cause are more than making up for his failures to reach three figures.
For the second time in three weeks, Yadav reached the late 90s for Swindon in their WEPL Glos/Wilts clash with Warminster on Saturday, but he couldn’t quite get over the line, ending 97 not out in the County Ground outfit’s successful run chase.
Yadav anchored the pursuit of Warminster’s 212 and afterwards revealed his frustration at not quite reaching his own ton.
He said: “I’m finding ways not to score a hundred. It was pretty good. It was in a chase, so that means a little bit more, as does being there at the end. It gives you a little bit more satisfaction.
“Hopefully next week I’ll be speaking to you with a hundred. I’ve been scoring quite a few 50s but I’ve not scored for two years. It’s a bit frustrating but I’ve got to be patient. If it’s going to happen it’s going to happen, you can’t keep thinking about it.”
Swindon now sit 32 points behind table-topping Lechlade in third place in the league table, while Rockhampton are 21 points above them in second, and Yadav is hopeful of at least making sure the leaders don’t have an easy stroll towards promotion.
He said: “I joined after the first six games, so I wouldn’t know a lot about what happened before but since I’ve joined we’ve played six, won five and lost one - and even in that game I was injured. I couldn’t bowl and I couldn’t bat properly.
“There seems to be a bit of team bonding and everyone seems to be working well for each other.
“Anything is possible but we’re just taking it per game.
“There is obviously mathematically a chance to get to the top spot so we have to keep pushing for the promotion, just in case Lechlade and Rockhampton slip.
“The good thing is we’ve still got to play those two teams and if we beat them then it’s not going to harm us as we’re pushing for that promotion place.”
