ABBEY Meads A first game of the season was a tight contest against their counterparts from Moredon.

Both teams started strong, and by the end of the first quarter it was still anyone’s game with the score of 9-7 to Abbey.

The second quarter saw Abbey break away, with some fantastic interceptions from the defence and some sharp shooting from the goal shooter, finishing at half time on 22-14.

Once Moredon had caught their breath, they came back strong in the third quarter, nearly bringing the score back to even at 28-25.

The half time changes made by Abbey seemed to have settled by the final quarter.

Abbey were working strong as a team, and determined to win.

The score remained close for the final quarter, and every interception and mistake mattered.

Both teams had growing support from the sidelines, and it was a fight to the finish.

Abbey managed to keep the lead throughout, and proudly walked away with 40-37 win.

Abbey Meads B got off to a flying start with a 36-18 win over Nationwide B.

Every single team member gave 100 per cent to ensure that they came home with a convincing win against a very good side.

Natalie Johns walked off with players’ player of the match after not missing a single shot on goal.

However, with the high standard of netball played by every single member of the Abby B team Nationwide found it very hard to choose.

Abbey Meads F made a fantastic start to their debut league season with an 18-9 success over Marlborough.

The team dominated play from the start demonstrating a variety of attacking moves coupled with excellent defensive play.

Goals were scored by Rebecca, Charlotte, Tiana Hunt and Jasmin.

The team was captained by Holly Atkins, while Hunt was named player of the match.
