UNFORCED errors and missed opportunities cost Pewsey dear as they lost out in Dorset & Wilts One North.
Vale were first to break out with a surge towards the home side’s line, resulting in a penalty converted by centre James Haynes.
Cricklade responded immediately from the restart catching Pewsey on the back foot and NIck Bond went over for a try which was converted by Lewis Prosser.
With five minutes of the first half remaining, Pewsey hooker Jeremy Horton charged for the line and a deft offload allowed wing Vee Vuira to touch down.
Cricklade caught Pewsey napping at the start of the second half, Mitch Bryan scoring a try after 30 seconds but, midway through, Pewsey piled on the pressure and, as a sin-binning reduced Cricklade to 14 men, Horton forced his way over the line for Vale, Haynes adding the extras.
Cricklade upped the tempo and were awarded a penalty to retake the advantage through Prosser but the lead changed hands again as a breakout by scrum-half Sikeli Ratu saw him link with Vuira over a 50 metre dash before Ratu went in for a try.
With a minute to go Pewsey were penalised at a scrum. The home team took a quick penalty and again the defence was found wanting as Cricklade veteran Simon Hoswse scored the winning score, converted by Prosser.
