FROME Town were left deflated after they were dumped out of the cup by Boreham Wood on Monday night.

After holding the Conference South side to 2-2 draw at the Blindsmans Brewery Stadium on Saturday, Adrian Foster’s men were beaten by the solitary goal in the replay.

The game was played in wet conditions which began to affect the pitch as the game went on with puddles forming in certain parts.

The Robins came out of the blocks well and for much of the game looked like the team from the higher league but failed to take their chances.

The only goal of the game came midway through the first half when Lee Angol skipped past a challenge from Rhys Baggridge before seeing his shot blocked in the box.

A goalmouth scramble ensued and was won by Angol who took his second chance well, finding space to shoot low past Darren Chitty.

“We were massively disappointed because the players knew they could have got something out of the game,” said Foster.

“Boreham Wood’s manager and chairman were both complimentary and said that we looked like the side sitting second in the Conference South.

“The pitch was getting really bad and it was getting to the stage where I thought they were going to call it off.

“I think in the first half in particular we were the better side and created more but with only their first attack of the game, I think, they scored.

“The higher you go up the leagues the less chances you get and the more clinical you need to be.”

Frome now travel to Hungerford on Saturday looking to kick-start their league campaign with a win.

“Hungerford are doing well in the league, so it is going to be a difficult game,” added Foster.

“If we go into the game with the same performances as we have had over the last week then there is no doubt we will win.

“There is no doubt we need to start winning , our league position is a false one and it doesn’t look good.”
