FOLLOWING a disappointing result last weekend, Swindon men ground out a hard-fought 3-0 win at a UWE team suffering a lack of confidence in their first home league game of the season.

Swindon took advantage of the quality playing surface and eventually made their dominance pay, with a second goal of the season for Matthew Wilcox.

Shortly afterwards, skipper Luke Cejer turned the ball home with a tidy finish, before Alex Hynes kept UWE at bay in defence for Swindon picking up the pieces after keeper Alan Gough was beaten, with right-back Hynes clearing well off the Swindon goal line late on in the first half.

Depsite UWE putting the visitors under pressure in the first ten minutes of the second half, strong defensive play by Swindon kept their efforts at bay.

Swindon got back into gear and dominated the remainder of the game, and limited the students to a few scrappy half chances during the rest of the match.

With just a few minutes left, Jim Towers found Henry Cheney through the middle, who unselfishly set up James Lewis to score his first league goal of the season.
