FAIRFORD Town boss Gareth Davies admits it will be hard to change a winning team when the bottom two sides in Hellenic League Division One West go head-to-head.

The Cinder Lane side make the journey to Letcombe tomorrow knowing a win would lift them off the foot of the table.

And while Davies can welcome back four players in Martin Stratford, Stevie Hall, Alex Rudd and Aaron Dale, he faces a dilemma after the team put in a superb performance on Tuesday night to sink Premier Division outfit Milton United in the Floodlit Cup.

“Normally you don’t change a winning side,” the Fairford boss said. “But the game have got coming in a big one and we have got some very good players available again.

“But the lads who played on Tuesday were superb, so it is tough and I’m not sure what we are going to do yet.”

Davies is hoping that the Milton success is a turning point in Fairford’s campaign.

After their 8-0 defeat to leaders Longlevens on Saturday, Town slipped to the foot of the table on goal difference.

“One of the lads said the other day that we were now bottom, I hadn’t actually been looking at the table,” Davies said.

“A win tomorrow and we could be mid-table so it is a big match.

“On Tuesday, we did the basics right and worked hard - that is something that we have been telling the players to do all season.

“We have to do that again at Letcombe, because if you do the basics right, work harder than the other team then you are more likely to get something out of the game.”

Purton face the unenviable task of welcoming leaders Longlevens to the Redhouse.

James French’s side have taken to the Hellenic League like ducks to water following their promotion from the Gloucestershire County League.

But Justin Miller’s Purton will be looking to build on their Wiltshire Cup success at Marlborough last weekend.

New College Swindon will be aiming to make amends for last weekend’s 5-0 defeat to Highworth Town in the county cup with the make the journey to last year’s Division One West champions Tytherington Rocks.
