NEW College manager Mark Teasdale was left sulking on Saturday night after he watched his side fall to a 3-2 defeat at Tytherington Rocks.

College put in a spirited display after finding themselves three goals down in the first half but could not quite do enough to clinch a point from the game.

The hosts took the lead inside the first five minutes and extended their lead before half-time to leave New College a mountain to climb in the second half.

It started well after the break for the visitors when Christy Millar scored, however, College could not find a second until right at the death through David Kinuthia, but it was too little too late for the young side.

“I said to the players that we write off the first half, that just wasn’t a performance that we wanted, the second half was a lot better,” said Teasdale.

“We haven’t got a game now until next week, so can we go out and perform how we finished today and start against Wantage this week.

“We talked about trying to keep a clean sheet and we gave a goal away after about five minutes.

“We gave them two other goals as well which they didn’t have to work hard for but the second half we came out a little bit better, a little bit brighter and got at them.

“We scored after about 10 minutes in the second half but unfortunately we couldn’t get any more.

“The keeper made a couple of good saves and then we nicked one towards the end and it was a bit frustrating.

“The boys train really well but it is just trying to apply what they learn in the week in a match situation.

“I think the College have played a lot of games and we have had a few injuries and suspensions it is just difficult stepping up to the level.

“The older boys may have let themselves down and not done as well as they could have been and some of the first years have come in really well, so it is just trying to find that balance.”
