DEVIZES paid a heavy price for missed chances as defeat on teh road kept them inside the South West One East bottom three.
The first half was a reasonably even affair, but Maidenhead went in 10-0 to the good, Devizes missing four kickable penalties as visiting captain Simon Cripps scored a brace of tries.
Devizes full-back Luke Rapson, who had looked dangerous with the ball, moved to fly-half after the loss to injury of Rory Brown.
But despite pulling a try back from centre Mark Carter after a flowing backs move cut the home defence to shreds, the fightback didn’t materialise.
Maids hooker Lewis Jones jinked through a gap after sustained pressure on the Devizes defence to make it 17-5 before a flowing backs move saw the Saddlebacks substitute Callum Conway across the line.
Maidenhead then had two players in the bin for further indiscipline, handing Devizes an opportunity to take control of the game.
Instead they blew their scoring opportunities and Maidenhead wrapped up the points with a score off a scrum.
