MELKSHAM Town will host league rivals Shepton Mallet in the third round of the FA Vase early next month if they can get past Slimbridge at the second attempt this week.

Darren Perrin’s side will host Shepton at the Conigre on Saturday December 6 but only if they can navigate Tuesday night’s second round replay at Slimbridge, who also ply their trade in the Toolstation League Premier Division, following their 2-2 home draw last Saturday.

Gary Higdon and Ben Thomson were on target for Melksham.

Meanwhile, Chippenham Park pushed local rivals Bradford Town all the way last Friday but were knocked out of the Vase after suffering a 2-1 extra-time defeat.

Chippenham Town striker Alan Griffin, playing on his return to action following knee surgery, headed home to cancel out Jack Hopper’s spectacular opener and force extra-time but Bradford’s Mark Wall popped up with the winner late on.
