BOSS John Fisher says Highworth Town will look to make amends for their “worst performance of the season” when they travel back to Blackfield & Langley in the FA Vase next month.

Fisher’s troops were sent tumbling out of the FA Cup when they visited Sydenhams League outfit Blackfield back in August, crashing to a 4-0 defeat at Gang Warily.

Town booked their place in yesterday’s third round draw with a 3-0 win over Bridport at the weekend and will now return to Gang Warily on Saturday, December 6, keen to improve on their last trip to Southampton.

“Here we go again,” said Fisher. “We’ve already had Bridport in the Cup and Vase and now we’ve got Blackfield again too.

“It’s not the best draw – it could have been kinder to us but we’ve just got to deal with it.

“I think we are better equipped than we were last time we went down there and we will have plenty of motivation.

“I don’t think they’re in quite the same nick as they were earlier in the season and we’re a better side than we were then, so we’ll just go down there and give it a shot.

“I think it was probably our worst performance of the season when we got turned over in August so we’ll certainly be looking to do better than that.”

Town still have two Hellenic League Premier Division fixtures before their next Vase clash, starting at home to Oxford City Nomads on Saturday.
