A SOLITARY score from Natalie Williams was enough to secure Supermarine Ladies their first league victory of the season as they triumphed at Rosslyn Park.

The fixture was an immediate rematch of last weekend’s clash between the two sides and much of the play followed a similar pattern, with the pair locked in a scoreless battle throughout the first half.

Supermarine made the vital breakthrough early in the second period as they were able to exert pressure in the right areas of the pitch which resulted in a breakaway try from scrum-half Williams, who also added the conversion.

This set up a tense final half-hour and, to their credit, Rosslyn Park never gave up and made Supermarine fight until the final whistle.

Claire Chard was named Supermarine’s forward of the match for leading a strong performance from the pack, while Harriet Marshall and Bel Martin-Mulholland shared the accolade among the backs for their superb efforts in the centre channel.
