DAVE Ferris says that his Chippenham Park players couldn’t help but feel ‘conned’ after a goal almost seven minutes into injury time denied his side a point at league leaders Barnstaple Town.

After Park attempted to shut Barnstaple down in the first half, Mark Robinson netted to cancel out Ryan Turner’s opener but Ferris’ men suffered late heartbreak as Aaron Harper-Penman fired in with an overhead kick.

“We played seven minutes of injury time but there were no injuries. I think their management had a word with the referee about our goalkeeper time-wasting but that was just because it took a while for him to get the ball back from their boys’ shots,” said the Park manager.

“Maybe it’s a little bit of sour grapes on my part but my players felt a little bit conned. Our ploy was to try and contain them in the first half but we came out and dominated things 60-40 in the second half.

"It left a sour taste in the mouth but we've just got to brush ourselves off and move on to the next game."
