ENGLAND Lions drew their second unofficial Test, and the series, against South Africa A as Steeple Ashton's James Vince made a superb unbeaten century.

Resuming 61 ahead on 212 for four, the tourists reached 402-7 with Vince 152 not out before the teams shook hands on a draw in Bloemfontein.

The Hampshire batsman, who previously played for both Warminster and Chippenham, was 61 not out overnight, having put on 115 with captain Jonathan Trott on day three of four, but he lost his partner Jonny Bairstow in the seventh over with just 15 added to the score.

Bairstow edged Rory Kleinveldt to keeper Rudi Second having scored seven, but Yorkshire colleague Adil Rashid joined former Warminster School pupil Vince in a stand of 81.

Vince was on 71 at the fall of the wicket and reached his first century for the Lions with a single of Dane Piedt in the 80th over, having hit 16 fours in 196 balls.

Rashid offered excellent support in an innings of 32, which occupied 60 balls and nearly two hours, before being dismissed by Kagiso Rabada (three for 94), but when Liam Plunkett fell for 13 the lead was still only a fragile 169.

But Durham seamer Mark Wood battled an hour and a half for 44 not out, adding an unbroken 72 with Vince, before the South Africans were forced to abandon their pursuit of victory.

Vince batted for six hours and 38 minutes in all, facing 291 balls and striking 22 fours and a six.
