HIGHWORTH Town will give themselves the best opportunity of facing North Shields in the FA Vase semi-final according to boss John Fisher.

The Worthians are potentially just three games away from Wembley, but must first successfully negotiate a quarter-final replay at Tadcaster Albion on Saturday.

Though before even considering the trip north, the veteran boss has launched another scathing attack on the Hellenic League, claiming they refused to postpone tonight’s Bluefin Sports Supplementary Challenge Cup third round clash at Newbury Town.

“It’s a disgrace,” Fisher said. “They said if Newbury agree to it then we could have moved the game, but the Hellenic League should have called it off and take it out of Newbury’s hands.

“They should be doing all they can to help us. I wanted to do well in this cup because we have a decent chance in it.

“I’m going to treat the competition with the same contempt that I feel the league have treated me.

“I’m going to play the reserves. I don’t want anyone getting injured ahead of Saturday.”

Fisher and his players will make the 180-mile trip to Tadcaster on the Friday afternoon and stay in a hotel the night before.

AWith a two-legged semi-final with Northern League Division One outfit North Shields awaiting the winners from the weekend, Fisher knows what is at stake.

“We are going to do everything properly,” he said. “We are going up there on Friday, having a meal together, make sure that we get the journey out of our legs on the Saturday morning and then go into the game.

“The draw is tough, but whoever gets through to this stage is going to be hard.

“If we can do then we will have done it the hardest way possible.

“I’m still upset with what the league has done – it is an absolute disgrace, but am I surprised? No, am I not.”
