WITH the injuries we’ve had this season we know more than most how important guests can be.

It would be a lot easier if you had your own one to seven all year around but the sport doesn’t work like that, unfortunately.

It’s a tough job for a manager to try to get a guest in. You’ve got to look at which riders are going well and which riders have ridden for which clubs in the past.

You want to try to get the best guest in possible but a lot of clubs race in the week so not everyone is available all the time.

I think it’s a bit of a strange one for the fans because as a guest people don’t normally see you in that team.

From a riders perspective you are just there to do the job like everyone else. We’re there to score points like we are every other night and that’s what you have to do as a speedway rider.

I don’t mind a guest booking as it’s all about getting extra experience in the bank, especially on an away track. If you can get an extra bit of learning there before you go there with your own team then that’ll stand you in great stead.

I’m happy to do it anywhere, obviously closer to home is better but you’ve got to make the most of those opportunities as it’s all good experience.

Last week against King’s Lynn we had Chris Harris and Dakota North one night and then Chris and Hans Andersen the next.

It all depends on averages and you have to get the right average for the right rider. If you’ve got a five-point rider out you can’t get a nine-point rider in.

Chris went at number one the first night but for the second Hans’ average was bigger so he was at number one instead.

We’ve got another guest tonight with Rory Schelin in for Grzegorz Zengota.

Rory is a very strong rider and has been on form at the start of the season, he’s been scoring a few points. He’s old enough and wise enough and has got a lot of experience behind him so it’ll be good to have him in the team.
