SWINDON Robins continue to get their season back on track with a solid 53-40 win over Wolverhampton Wolves at the Abbey Stadium.

Alun Rossiter’s side completed their second win at home in the space of a week with Nick Morris continuing his fine form to finish top scorer.

Two maximums in heats six and seven gave the hosts the advantage and despite Wolves looking to come back in heats eight and nine the Robins sealed the victory with a big 5-1 in heat 13.

Peter Kildemand was expected to return for the Robins but an administration error meant that Leicester rider Jason Doyle stepped in as Swindon’s number one.

Grzegorz Zengota also missed out on the meeting and was expected to be replaced by Poole Pirates’ Rory Schlein but a van breakdown left him stranded and Josh Grajczonek was a late replacement.

After a re-start Fredrik Lindgren gated well in the first heat to take the lead but was pushed by Doyle until the Aussie made a mistake on the second lap and Kyle Howarth was able to move through to claim second spot as the two sides shared the points.

Nathan Greaves, in his first return to the Abbey as a guest for Wolves, had an eventful first race as he came together with Charles Wright going into the first corner with both riders going straight on into the barriers.

Both riders were allowed to go again for the re-start but it was a heat to forget for the visitors as Lewis Blackbird fell at the first nearly taking out Greaves before the former Robin also fell on the first lap to allow Wright to lead home Lewis Rose for a maximum.

In heat three Nick Morris got the perfect start to take the lead from Jacob Thorssell but Joonas Kylmakorpi did enough to hold off Batchelor for a share of the points.

It was another shared heat in the fourth heat as Greaves failed to make the start line but skipper Peter Karlsson did enough to hold off Grajczonek and Wright for the win.

Kyle gated well in heat five but Wells had the better grip to come out of the corner in the lead. Howarth didn't give up though and took him on the third lap to take the win.

In heat six Grajczonek and Morris went either side of Lindgren in the first corner and came out as one and two to claim the maximum.

It was another maximum in the seventh heat as Swindon turned the screw. Batchelor lead from the first corner and Doyle was able to snatch second place in the third lap to extend their lead to 12 points.

The visitors closed the gap in the eighth heat as Wells made the most of a tactical ride to lead Grajczonek out of the first corner with Wright just holding off Blackbird for the point.

The Robins lead was further eaten into in heat nine as Karlsson took the win with Howarth fighting hard behind, but with Blackbird coming in third the Wolves took the heat.

Morris continued his fine form as he lead heat 10 from the first corner as Batchelor struggled for the second time in the evening to make an impact as he limped home.

Howarth was disqualified for a second unsatisfactory start at the start of heat 11 and started the restart with a 15m handicap.

Thorssell lead from the first corner of the second start with Doyle having to settle in behind and despite the 15m disadvantage Howarth pushed Kylmakorpi all the way but ran out of laps to overtake.

The points were shared in heat 12 as Blackbird lead from the front and even completed a fifth lap for good measure.

Swindon secured the meeting win with a maximum in heat 13 as Batchelor lead home Doyle to give the Robins an unassailable lead.

The points were split in the heat of the night as Kylmakorpi overtook teammate Karlsson on the first lap of heat 14 before Morris took the Swedish rider on the second lap, with Gracjczonek sneaking third spot on the final corner.

Swindon completed the win in style as Doyle lead home Morris to complete a fifth maximum of the night.
