SWINDON skipper Troy Batchelor has claimed that seasons are not won in the first few weeks after helping to get the Robins' campaign back on track with a win over Wolverhampton Wolves on Thursday.

The Aussie has admitted his frustration after a crash in Swindon’s first meeting of the campaign against Poole Pirates saw him sat on the sidelines.

However, after his first return to the Robins side, where he won two of his four races, the 27-year-old believes that he and Swindon are both getting back in the groove.

“It has been a hit and miss start to the season with all the injuries but nothing really happens at the start of the season,” said Batchelor after Thursday night’s win.

“You can see Poole will be the bottom of the league and then, at the end of the year, they will go on and win the championship.

“It is good to have all that stuff happen now and get it out of the way rather than later on.

“I found it tough at times (during my first ride back with the Robins), not in pain but I haven’t got that strength back yet in my arm.

“It hasn’t been fun and it has been annoying sitting there and watching everyone.

“But at the same time I have been keeping an eye on everyone while they have been going.

“I’m definitely trying to get myself back to where I need to be.

“I have definitely got the speed, I had a couple of easy wins today, I just need to get my confidence back riding close to other people.

“We made a good start tonight towards getting some good points and getting the ball rolling.

“We now have a good couple in a row and definitely a chance to get back on top of things.”
