IN-FORM Australian Nick Morris has been given the responsibility of the Swindon Robins’ number one spot for this evening’s televised Elite League clash at home to table-topping Coventry Bees.

With Adrian Miedzinski still out injured and back-up Peter Kildemand unavailable, Swindon team manager Alun Rossiter has tasked youngster Morris with leading the charge against the Bees.

Former Robin Dakota North will guest in Morris’ usual number three slot at the Abbey Stadium in front of the Sky Sports cameras.

Morris, who turns 21 next month, has been in outstanding form throughout the 2015 campaign and Rossiter has no doubt he has what it takes to ride at number one tonight.

“Nick is top of our averages. That doesn’t necessarily mean I have to race him at number one but it shows what big strides he’s made in that he will be racing there,” said Rossiter.

“It is extra pressure but he has raced a lot in heat one anyway. He did it all last year and it’s not a major shock for him.

“He does it in the Premier League and it is all good too him. It doesn’t faze him.

“Some riders aren’t big fans of going out in heat one but Nick doesn’t mind, hence why I put him in.

“I will be a happy man if he rides like he has done at home so far this season and I don’t see anything changing.

“We’ve got a good guest replacement in Dak - he knows his way around the Abbey.

“We’ve brought him in as, due to the international fixture list, Peter was always going to be away.

“When we first picked this fixture for TV, all of our team with Adrian; none of them were racing in Sweden. It was the same for Coventry. That’s why we picked this fixture.”

The Bees have been in flying form so far this term and have eight wins from their 11 fixtures.

However, Swindon look close to unstoppable at Blunsdon, winning their last five home meetings, and Rossiter reckons it will be Coventry who are stung tonight.

“I’ve always had belief in the boys but we’ve started to show what we can do now. Certainly at home, we are a real force,” said Rossiter.

“Riding at home, we’d fancy ourselves.

“They are the form team but we shouldn’t fear them at all, certainly on our own track at the moment.

“We’ve been a match for everyone at Blunsdon and I am comfortable with the boys we have got in the team.

“It will be one of our stiffest tests. King’s Lynn and Belle Vue were very tough but the league leaders are coming to town.

“They certainly are the form team but we shouldn’t be worried about who is coming.”
