WARMINSTER’S final home outing of the campaign ended in disappointment as they were decimated by county rivals Burbage & Easton Royal at Sambourne Road last weekend.

Tom Davie’s side slipped to a five-wicket defeat in their penultimate game of the season after they were skittled for a meagre 55 in little more than 22 overs.

After winning the toss and opting to bat first, things couldn’t have gone worse for Warminster as they gave up wickets regularly, with opener Ankit Shastri hanging around to make 20 as team-mates were dismissed around him.

Number seven David Bateman offered up a run-a-ball 21 but the rest of the home line-up were all dismissed for less than five runs apiece.

Burbage’s Luke Woodcock was the chief destroyer as he finished with figures of 5-12 whilst Oli Lavis also helped himself to 3-9.

Rory Cullinan did managed to ensure that Burbage’s route to success wasn’t a complete breeze as he took 4-20 but David Cope (17), Sam Tuttle (14) and Dan Wootton (10) helped the visitors to 56-5 early in the 17th over.

Defeat leaves Davie’s Warminster fifth in the table.

They bring the curtain down on their campaign with a trip to second-from-bottom Tewkesbury on Saturday.
