CHIPPENHAM Town conceded two goals in the league for the first time this season after going down to a brace from Sam Mulready in Norfolk.

The defeat sees Chippenham hanging on to fourth place as only three points separate the top six sides in the Southern Premier Division.

The Bluebirds had two good chances to get on the scoresheet in the opening half. On 14 minutes Andy Sandell, making his first start after injury, dragged his shot wide after being put through on goal.

Two minutes before the break Sandell’s cross found Alex Ferguson in a good position but his headed effort failed to trouble Alex Street in the Lynn goal.

King’s Lynn had opened the scoring between those two chances when Michael Clunan’s through ball on 17 minutes allowed Mulready to slip the ball past the advancing Kent Kauppinen.

Lynn also twice hit the woodwork in the opening half when Toby Hilliard headed a Clunan free kick against an upright and a Lee Stevenson’s effort did likewise.

A minute after the interval Liam Hurst headed over the bar for the hosts. At the other end Sandell again found Ferguson who failed to convert, whilst James Guthrie volleyed wide.

Twenty minutes from time Mulready scored his and Lynn’s second when he lobbed the ball over Kauppinen.

Five minutes later Chippenham went close to pulling a goal back when skipper Greg Tindle headed against the bar.
