NICK Blackwell will return to the ring in Bristol on Saturday November 14 to defend his British middleweight title for a second time.

Trowbridge’s ‘Bang Bang’ Blackwell, who turns 25 this month, is set to once again headline a Hennessy Sports show, which will be held in conjunction with Sanigar Events, live on Channel 5.

His opponent is yet to be announced but Blackwell, who was last in action when he emphatically saw off Damon Jones in Derby back in July, will top the bill at Bristol’s City Academy next month.

The Trowbridge ace, who trains under Gary Lockett, will be looking to complete a hat-trick of impressive stoppages.

Promoter Mick Hennessy said: “We've offered the fight to some well-known and world-ranked fighters, but nobody wants to go anywhere near Nick Blackwell right now.”

Blackwell had once again been touted for a potential match-up with Chris Eubank Jr, who faces American Tony Jeter in Sheffield on October 24, but that contest hasn’t come to fruition, with ‘Bang Bang’ claiming the British number one was offered the bout.

“I'm told Chris Eubank Jr was offered the fight for a lot of money and, as has been the case in the past, turned it down,” said Blackwell.

“We've sparred each other before and he knows exactly what would happen if we met anytime soon. Yet apparently, he badly wants the British title.

“The problem for him though is, if he wants to win the title and prove he's the best in Britain, he has to go through me.

“With that in mind, I can understand why he'd want to swerve the opportunity and seek out easier fights elsewhere.”

Blackwell got his hands on the coveted Lonsdale belt with a show-stopping victory over John Ryder in May.

Tyson Fury’s younger brother Young Fury and cousin Hughie Fury will both also be in action in Bristol on November 14.
