SHRIVENHAM boss Michael McNally knows a win is not far away as they look to cause an upset when they take on local rivals Purton.

Justin Miller’s side play host to Shrivvy tomorrow and go into the game on the back of a 4-1 defeat in another local derby against Fairford Town in Division One West.

Shrivenham head into the match with just one win in their last five but McNally has seen signs in recent outings that his team are on the turn and wants to begin moving up the league, starting tomorrow.

“It’s a local derby and I am sure you won’t need much motivation for that one,” he said.

“It should be an interesting one but we are looking forward to it.

“Justin will be telling them the same things as I am to my boys, and hopefully they will be up for it.

“You know what it is like in derbies, somebody either makes a mistake or scores a wonder goal to win it.

“I know nobody likes losing games, but if you are coming off the pitch having dominated for 70 or 80 minutes then that is all you can ask for and the wins will come for us soon.”

Meanwhile, Fairford Town manager Gareth Davies is not placing too much significance on tomorrow’s trip to league leaders Cheltenham Saracens.

The Cinder Lane men sit below their hosts tomorrow by virtue of goal difference, however, the Reds boss believes there will be plenty more twists in the season whatever the outcome.

“We are not going to put any pressure on the boys, they know it is a big game – if we can get something out of the game then that would be great,” Davies said.

“But just look at where we were last season – we just have to enjoy what we are doing. We can go there and express ourselves.

“I don’t think that this game will go a long way to deciding who will be in the top two at the end of the season – there is still a long way to go.”

In the Bluefin Sports Challenge Cup, New College Swindon play host to Lydney Town hoping to progress through to the third round.
