CORSHAM Town lost ground on the teams above them as they fell to a 4-2 defeat away to Chipping Sodbury.

Going into Tuesday night’s game, only two points separated Corsham in sixth place and Chipping Sodbury above them in the Toolstation Western League First Division.

However, by half time the hosts had themselves in a commanding position, going into the break two goals to the good.

Second half strikes from Levi Cox and Dan Jones were not enough to haul their side back into the game as Chipping Sodbury also struck twice to see their advantage in the league stretched to five points.

Jeff Roberts side, who remained in sixth place despite Tuesday’s defeat, have the chance of climbing into the top five on Saturday when they face Oldland Abbotonians.

Corsham, who have played three more games than this weekend’s hosts, are just two points behind in the table.
