HIGHWORTH Town boss John Fisher says there is a buzz around the club at the moment after a 4-0 win over Abingdon United.

The win is their sixth in succession in all competitions and has seen the Worthians climb into a breakaway group of five at the top of the Hellenic League Premier Division.

Goals from Bradley Clark, Callum Parsons, Dan Drewett and TJ Bohane wrapped up the straight-forward win which leaves them just four points off leaders Flackwell Heath.

“I thought we might have gone up a little bit. We haven’t, but there is a little breakaway group gone there at the top and it is good to be part of that,” said Fisher.

“The club is buzzing at the moment.

“I think we had the win in the first half and we dominated good periods of it and went in 2-0 up,”

“I thought they (Abingdon) should have had a penalty when we were 1-0 up but we were fortunate to get away with that.

“They were quite neat and tidy, because you expect a team that are near the bottom to struggle, and I did think second half they would cause us some problems.

“However, that didn’t materialise and we ran out comfortable winners.

Highworth made the most of the poor conditions to take the lead as goalkeeper Kurtis Sharkey sent the ball forward and, with the wind behind it, the ball went through to Clark who lifted it over the on-rushing keeper.

Clark then turned provider to play in Parsons for the second goal before Drewett extended drove into the bottom corner after the break.

Bohane then wrapped up the win from the penalty spot to the delight of Elms boss John Fisher.

“The good thing about it is that we didn’t concede and that we’re scoring goals and not just relying on TJ,” he added.

“It takes the pressure off him because last season if he wasn’t scoring then there weren’t many scoring but now we are chipping in from every angle.

“That is pleasing for me because the team is not just about TJ.”
