PEWSEY produced a 10-try demolition of a keen Sutton Benger in Dorset & Wilts Two North.

Playing against a strong wind and up the slope Pewsey kicked off, surged forward, and flanker Olly Spence was over for a try with less than two minutes gone. Fly-half James Haynes added the extras.

Though Pewsey enjoyed field position the wind allowed the home team to kick their way out of trouble.

Vale continued to press and at the end of the first quarter number eight Phil Vallis was over in the wide outside, he followed up with a second try 10 minutes later; both unconverted.

Sutton kicked a penalty, followed by an unconverted try in the last play of the half following a kick and chase scramble.

Pewsey scored seven second-half tries. Scrum-half Nick Damper was first up after three minutes, converted by Haynes. Vallis then completed his hat-trick with a hallmark charge to the line from 20 metres, unconverted.

Four tries followed in quick succession, Haynes going  over after a show and go.

Hooker Phil Hobbs, then centre Chris Takel and finally prop Tom Baish all hit the whitewash in a 15-minute period, Haynes converting all four.

With five minutes to go Hobbs was in for his second after another pressure play from the Pewsey forwards, unconverted.

The home team had the last say when an over-ambitious long-range pass was intercepted allowing the Sutton winger to dot down between the posts, converted.
