WILTSHIRE teenager Pete Kibble raced in the Isle of Man International Junior Tour, lining up alongside 80 of the best junior riders over three days.

Racing began on Friday evening with a prologue time trial along Douglas promenade in windy conditions, Kibble finishing eight seconds adrift of stage winner, Rob Scott.

Stage 2 moved to Peel, where the riders faced a 65-mile road race, Kibble finishing the stage in sixth place to head into the final stage in joint seventh position on the general classification.

The final 57-mile stage was held in the north of the Isle in horrendous conditions, a breakaway group forming on lap two with Kibble and two of his Velocity teammates, Matty Walls and Matt Draper, joining it.

With Draper falling back due to a puncture, Kibble had only Walls as a temmate for company, his group pulling out a two-minute lead over the chasing peleton.

Kibble finished the stage in eighth, rising to fifth on the general classification as his Velocity team finished second.

Kibble’s next major event is the Axel Tour in the Netherlands later this month, where he will be guesting for the Zappi’s team.
