JAMES Vince was set to grab his second taste of Test cricket as England renewed hostilities with Sri Lanka in Durham today.

Earlier this month, former Wiltshire batsman Vince, who hails from Steeple Ashton, earned his first-ever call-up and featured as England completed the 13th–fastest victory in Test history, in terms of balls bowled, at Headlingley.

Vince, 25, who is also Hampshire captain, only spent little more than half an hour at the crease as he was caught at second slip by Kusal Mendis for nine off 27 deliveries.

But England went on to romp to victory by an innings and 88 runs, with James Anderson and Stuart Broad sharing 15 wickets between them.

Ex-Chippenham and Warminster player Vince remains in his country’s side for the second Test, which begins today and is due to conclude next Tuesday, with the only change to the England line-up seeing Warwickshire’s Chris Woakes replacing Durham’s hard-hitting all-rounder Ben Stokes, who has been ruled out for the remainder of the series after undergoing knee surgery for a cartilage injury.
