SWINDON captain Andy Staff says that his side must put last weekend’s defeat to the back of their minds when they entertain Marlborough tomorrow.

The County Ground skipper was left irked by the state of the Marshfield pitch last weekend as they slumped to a nine-wicket defeat.

However, the wicketkeeper was not piling all the blame on the Broadleys wicket and felt that his side should have handled the conditions better.

But with the WEPL Wiltshire sixth-placed side back at the County Ground home, Staff is looking for his side to get their season moving again.

“Our season has been a little inconsistent, we need to get some consistency and put in a performance with both the bat and ball,” Staff said.

“There have been times when we have performed with the bat and performed with the ball, but I don’t think we have put it altogether in a match yet.

“We can’t worry about what happened last weekend, the wicket wasn’t great, so we move on and we are at home this weekend and we will be looking for a decent performance.”

The visit from Marlborough will see Swindon looking to record their second win in four matches.

With Staff’s side trailing their fourth-placed visitors by 22 points, the captain is now looking for his side to go on a run and climb the table.

“We are good enough, we have got the players and in an ideal world we wouldn’t be where we are in the table,” Staff said.

“But if you can put a run together and go six or seven games unbeaten then you can quite easily climb the table and there is no reason why we can’t do that.”

Marlborough will arrive at the County Ground after crushing Great Bedwyn by eight wickets.

George Fox’s side ripped Bedwyn out for 58 with Mohan Balusu taking 5-25, before reaching their target in just 76 balls.

Prior to that game, Marlborough had beaten Devizes and also taking Purton’s unbeaten start to the campaign.
