STEPHANIE Millward’s transition to a new para-swimming classification appears to be progressing smoothly after the Corsham star set a new world record earlier today.
The 34-year-old, who has multiple sclerosis, recently moved from the S9 category to S8, for more severely physically impaired athletes, but at the British Swimming Summer Championships at the Ponds Forge International Sports Centre in Sheffield, the Rio-bound Paralympian set a new standard in the S8 100m backstroke.
In only the second heat of the day, Paralympic ace Millward stormed home in one minute and 12.96 seconds to set a new S8 world record.
