WEST Wilts men were unable to make a successful start to the second half of their GoCrea8 League Conference North campaign as they were soundly beaten 6-0 in Wales.
The depleted visitors travelled to Penarth with only the bare 11 players and had chances in the first half, including for Alex Arnold, but found themselbes trailing by two goals at the interval.
Arnold and Will Janes again went close after the break but the home side scored four more times to wrap up their victory.
West Wilts Ladies 3rd were also on the receiving end of a defeat in their opening West Clubs League Wessex Division Three encounter of 2017.
An exciting and well-matched confrontation saw scoring opportunities for both sides.
Nicki Ford netted the only goal for Wilts, who saw Yolanda Kennedy and Pat Murdoch put in good performances in defensive positions.
