SWINDON College Old Boys head coach Mark Lea says his side won’t take Tadley lightly as they look to extend their winning streak to 12 games.

Lea’s troops came back from the winter break with a convincing 43-15 win over Abingdon last week, but the College chief felt there was plenty to work on despite the result.

When the two teams met in October, Tadley who took a strong lead at half-time before College Old Boys clawed their way to a 41-30 win.

The Hampshire outfit are currently seventh in the Berks, Bucks & Oxon Premier following their narrow defeat to Hungerford at the weekend.

“They gave us one of the best games of the season. We were quite lucky to come away with a win, we were behind to them quite heavily in the first half,” said Lea “We had a good second half so we managed to pull it back with some good rugby. I think they would have come away from that game thinking they should have won.

“I’m not taking them lightly at all, I know they have some very good players so we are going to have to be on our game.”

Tadley will be College’s first home game in over a month due to the Christmas break, and Lea is hoping that will make all the difference tomorrow as he is without a few key men.

Mark Edmonds will miss out due to sustaining a concussion in the game against Abingdon. In addition to that, Rory O’Brien, Joe Smedley and Drew Blinkhorn are all unavailable.

However, Lea isn’t concerned that his squad are missing a couple of faces ahead of the fixture.

“We’ve got a few lads out this week, so we are definitely going to have to be on our game,” he added.

“We’ve got some players out who would normally be in our team missing, so we are relying on our squad, really.

“I think this squad is the best equipped it has been for a long time, so the lads that we are bringing in are more than capable of doing a job.

“They’re getting the idea of what we are trying to say, but as always when you have individuals, it’s very hard to stop them beating the extra man when they could have passed.”

Meanwhile, Supermarine will be looking to bounce back from their defeat to Dorset and Wilts One North leaders Corsham when they make the trip Ballards Ash to face Royal Wootton Bassett 2nd.
