SWINDON Spitfires first team matched the success of their development side as they were crowned champions of the Wiltshire Ladies’ Premier League with an emphatic 7-1 victory over Swindon Supermarine Ladies.

Spits took the lead when Laura Stallard’s cross was fired in by Sarah Stacey before Katie Wadey’s delivery was then headed on by Stacey for Natalia Wilson to power home.

On 40 minutes, Wilson crossed for Charley Reynolds to score from close range.

Marine replied in the second half but a shot from striker Mhairi Hawksworth rebounded to allow Stacey to tap in before Wadey completed her hat-trick.

Player-manager Diane George said: “Everyone played well and to win the league in our 50th anniversary year is incredible."
