CALNE bounced back from their defeat to Dorset & Wilts Two North leaders Avonvale as they dismissed Melksham 2nd 47-7 on Saturday.

With Melksham having players unavailable, the home side 's forward pressure and dominance in the scrums and lineouts paid dividends.

Calne's Bruce Harper and Keith Bradley were stealing lineout ball on a regular basis and broke through gaps in open play.

Alan Wick was a continuous threat from the advancing scrums as the regular front row of Pete Brownlie, Dave Evans and captain Tom Morten marched forward towards the Melksham line.

Midway through the first half an injury in the Melksham front row meant the rest of the match was played with uncontested scrums which disrupted the flow of the game.

Flanker Chris McAlonon put in a man of the match display to score twice, while Pete Brownline, Dan Treacy, Liam Kearney, Jay Watkin and Marcus Turner also touched down, Liam Kearney adding the balance of points with the boot.
