WILTSHIRE’S U16s are currently in Colombo for their first-ever tour to Sri Lanka as part of our partnership with overseas tour and travel company, Lions Sports Travel.

They are four matches through their five-match schedule losing their first game against St Aloysius College at Galle International Stadium.

Having not played for five months and in very hot conditions, after a good start by Jack Stearman (27) and Sam Bull, Wiltshire lost their way in the middle overs, Hamish Walker top scoring with a fluent 40 in 169-8 off 40overs.

A super spell from Ben Huntley (5-2-4-1) had St Aloysius at 115-5 as Akram took 2-35 but the hosts reached their target six down with the best part of three overs to go.

Wiltshire bounced back to win game two at St Thomas College in Colombo, keeping their opponents to 227-8.

Bull (30) and Walker (57) made a century partnership, helped by wides and Harry Clarke (38) and Stearman (38 not out) consolidated before lusty blows from Huntley finished the job with three wickets down and seven overs to spare.

Travelling to Mattegoda and the Army’s Sapper Cricket Club, Max Ojomoh and Will Sayers took the new ball and quickly reduced the hosts SN Cricket Academy to 17-3.

Further wickets had them at 56-5 but stands of 76 and 80 took the hosts to 212-6.

In tandem with Charlie Smith (50), Walker (52 off 59 balls) posted 123 for the first wicket, Alex Duffell adding 26 before a flurry of boundaries from James Wade and Sam Bull and Akram Ghauri took them over the line with an over to spare.

Against Wesley College, the Corsham trio of Max Ojomoh, Will Sayers and Ollie Overton bore the bowling burden due to illness and injury as College reached 222-8, Clarke with three wickets and Stearman with two.

Duffell top scored with 30 and Huntley a quick 26 in the reply but bad run outs, including of Walker, led to an all out total of 159 in the 33rd over.
