SWINDON Shock player-coach David Colclough believes his side were riding a wave of confidence as they swept Plymouth Rebels to one side in a 100-60 win at the weekend.

In their final National Division Four Men’s South West home game of the season, Shock produced their highest score of the campaign at Swindon New College.

Shock went into the game on the back of a table-topping win in Wales last time out as they edged past RCT Gladiators.

That result meant Shock, Rhondda and Cardiff City were all tied on 16 points, with Swindon sitting in third by virtue of points difference.

Colclough acknowledges his side have been able to push on after last weekend’s win.

“I think the Rhondda game gave us such a boost in confidence and we just took it all out on Plymouth,” said the Shock player-coach.

“It was one of those games where we tried to emphasise things in training because we can control our own destiny.

“We just came out and we were firing on all cylinders. Our ball movement, defence and everything was phenomenal from the start.

“This was just one of those good games as a team, with a good bench there too. It feels like it is starting to click even with the younger members.

“Normally when we play a game, we will get up by 15 or 20 points and take our foot off the pedal, but because we knew we were behind, we put the throttle down the whole game.”

From the get-go, the Swindon side jumped into a 10-point lead following baskets from Matt North, Matt Ford and Spencer Wells.

As the game approached the half-way stage, Plymouth had managed to get within five points of the hosts, who were looking for their first win over the Rebels.

But the second half would be a even stronger offensive display from the home side as Christopher Cole hit four baskets from beyond the arc.

Despite their 20-point advantage, Shock continued to push as Lee Hobbis, Alistair Tilney and Ollie Swann all came off the bench to contribute as Swindon sealed an impressive win.
