FC ABBEYMEADS Strikers U13 claimed a 2-0 victory over Northside in Division Two on the North Wiltshire Youth League.

Abbeymeads took the lead in the first half through a nicely-worked one-two on the wing between Dejan Broja and Kalum Sawyer, with the latter whipping in a delightful cross that Rogers Mubangizi turned in unmarked from six yards.

In the second half, a defensive clearance saw Ricardo Neto pick the ball up just outside the box and beat his man to get a shot away, which was parried by the Northside keeper.

However, Jack Long was on hand to snaffle up the rebound and lift the ball into the net.

Northside then pressed forward for the final 20 minutes of the match but Ian Deffor, Broja, Tyrese Cham and Lewis Bentley-Pearson stood firm, as well as Brandon Ricketts to claim a clean sheet.

Highworth Town Juniors came back from a goal down at half-time to win 2-1 away at Lydiard Millicent Juniors.

In difficult conditions, Highworth went a goal down from a free-kick just before half-time.

Josh Wright in the Highworth goal had also saved twice in quick succession, both shots hitting opposite sides of his head.

However, they drew level in the second half with a cool finish from Andy Smith after a great long thrown from Thomas Harris. Highworth’s winner came courtesy of an own goal following a Josh Uzzell strike.
