FROME Town had a surprise result last night as they were beaten 4-2 by rock-bottom Cinderford Town.

Before the game the hosts were 17 points away from safety, despite having an unbeaten record in February with three wins and a draw.

There was a slight hint it may not be Josh Jeffries’ day as his team were forced to wear Cinderford’s spare yellow kit as traffic problem meant their own strip arrived 15 minutes after kick-off.

The home side took the lead in the 20th minute as Frome failed to deal with a cross from the left wing, before eventually finding Nick Harrhy, who made no mistake with his effort.

Nine minutes later they struck again. Sam Teale was guilty of some lacklustre defending as Hurrhy burst through on goal.

Kyle Phillips was on hand to haul down the striker, who slotted the ball past the Frome keeper, who picked up a yellow card for his troubles.

Three then became four when Callum Mconie waltzed through the Frome defence to make the score 3-0.

Despite his earlier mishap, Teale was able to redeem himself as he reduced the host’s lead to two at the end of the first half.

During the interval the heavens opened and the Cinderford pitch was struggling to cope with the downpour.

However this wouldn’t deter Frome, who looked much improved in the second half.

After a spell of pressure Jeffries’ men gave themselves every chance of getting back into the fixture when James Fitzgibbon slotted home his 18th goal of the season from the spot.

But the hosts were on hand to provide a sucker-punch as Mconie doubled his goal tally to wrap up a 4-2 win.
