WESTBURY United joint-manager Joe Kirkpatrick was delighted with his side after they recorded their fifth consecutive win on Saturday.

Jamie Jordan’s second-half double was enough to secure all three points against Devizes, who ended the game with 10 men after Jake Roberts was sent off.

“I’m very pleased with the lads. We have got five wins on the bounce now and the team are improving week by week,” said Kirkpatrick.

“The players have done everything we’ve asked for so far. There is still room for improvement but so far, so good in this short amount of time.

“The first half was very tight. We were defending against a very strong wind in the first so we were happy with the way the players dealt with that.

“Midway through the second half, they had a player sent off for a high tackle on Leon Greenland and after that, we really took the game to them.

“We broke the deadlock through Jamie Jordan and not long after, he came up with his second after beating two men and then showing a powerful finish.

“It was a professional performance and we were proud of the players for keeping their discipline despite intense provocation.”

Kirkpatrick believes his team’s form can only be a good thing as they have one eye on next season.

“It’s hugely encouraging. Coming in, we knew it was all about building for next year and we can’t wait to get going,” he added.

“That said, we still have plenty of games left this year and we want to achieve the goals we set for ourselves this year.

“And that begins with making it six wins on the bounce this weekend.”

Elsewhere, strugglers Corsham, who sit way down the table in 21st, slipped to their 20th defeat of the campaign, losing 3-1 at home to Chippenham Park.

After a goalless first half, Ben Pring’s hat-trick against his former side was enough for the visitors to come away with all three points.

Warminster Town suffered a 2-1 defeat at home to Almondsbury UWE at the weekend, the visitors taking the lead in the first half through Jordan Yeo. In the second half, he doubled his tally, with Mark Robinson’s effort nothing more than a consolation.

Mark Breffit’s side will now turn their attention to Saturday’s trip to Radstock Town after Wednesday’s clash with Wellington was postponed.
