CALNE Town have parted company with manager Dave Ferris with the club in danger of demotion from the Toolstation League First Division.

Former Chippenham Park boss Ferris, who only took charge at Bremhill View in November, has been released from his duties with the club second from bottom in the table, with two matches of the season remaining.

Calne travel to Roman Glass St George on Wednesday and then Bishop Sutton on Saturday, the Lilywhites being three points adrift of third from bottom Welton Rovers with a game in hand.

Sides in the bottom two places in the table at the end of the season could be at risk of dropping into their county league, depending on the status of sides hoping to come into the Toolstation League.

However, the campaign since Christmas has proved a struggle, with Calne winning just three times, including Saturday's 4-0 win over Chard Town.

Players Marcus Lovesey, Jamie Lloyd-Davies and chairman Garry Murphy will take charge for the remaining two fixtures.

Murphy said: "Myself and the committee reluctantly feel that a change of leadership is required for next season.

"Dave Ferris has been released from his duties at Calne Town FC after a difficult short spell in charge.

"Stability was key this season, however results are ultimately the requirement.

"We would like to place on record our thanks to Dave for his time with the club, his commitment and energy he has shown.

"Football management at this level is very difficult, especially with players' commitment and being in competition with other local sides in the area for players.

"The Toolstation league requires a strong manager with contacts and a experience.

"As a club we should be able to attract that type of manager. Our search for a new manager for next season starts now.

"Long-serving players Marcus Lovesey, Jamie Lloyd-Davies and myself will take charge for the remaining two fixtures.''
