IN-FORM Australian Brady Kurtz has answered a Swindon SOS ahead of tonight’s Abbey showdown with top-flight champions Wolverhampton (7.30pm).

Kurtz, currently piling up the points for Premiership rivals Poole, will come in to guest for the Swindon Robins, who are without three of their regular septet.

With Troy Batchelor already lined up to guest for injured captain Jason Doyle (broken foot), the Robins had hoped to gain clearance for Nick Morris to race, following his concussion at Peterborough when racing for Berwick last Friday.

But despite receiving the all-clear from a full medical check, Morris must sit out a mandatory nine-day break from domestic action, ruling him out of the Swindon team tonight.

And with Dany Gappmaier added to the absence list due to illness, it leaves the Robins with Kurtz guesting for Morris and rider-replacement in operation for the Austrian.

Boss Alun Rossiter said: “Nick and Dany were both down to practice at Swindon this morning, but with Nick we’ve asked the question and we have to abide by the regulations regarding concussion.

“It’s frustrating because he went to great expense to get checked-out and cleared, and obviously there’s absolutely no way I would allow any of my riders to race if there was any doubt over a head injury.

“Dany has come down with a virus and he isn’t going to be able to ride either, it would be too much of a risk if he had to pull out after one ride with us already using rider-replacement, so I’m very grateful to Brady for answering the call at short notice, and my thanks to Poole for their co-operation.

“We’ll use R/R for Dany so we need everyone to put in a shift, and although it’s never ideal to be without your top two, we do at least have two guests in Troy and Brady who are in really good form at the moment.”

Wolverhampton have been inactive from league racing since June 12, during which time they have lost top spot in the Premiership to Belle Vue, but they still travel with a powerful line-up including top Swede Fredrik Lindgren and former British Champion Danny King making a guest appearance.

SWINDON: Troy Batchelor, Dany Gappmaier R/R, David Bellego, Bradley Wilson-Dean, Brady Kurtz, Adam Ellis, Zach Wajtknecht.

WOLVERHAMPTON: Fredrik Lindgren, Danny King, Rory Schlein, Jacob Thorssell, Sam Masters, Paul Starke, Nathan Greaves.
