TROWBRIDGE head Dan Jeffries admits he rues his side’s slow poor start to the season as they continue to close the gap on Southern Counties South leaders Sherborne.

The Doric Park men lost their opening two matches of the season, which included a 21-19 defeat to the table-toppers, but following Saturday’s 50-3 at bottom-of-the-table Blandford the gap between the top two sides is now six points.

“We are relying on someone else beating Sherborne, which is not going to be easy,” Jeffries said. “All we can do is keep plugging away and pick up the bonus points and see where that takes us.”

On Saturday, Trowbridge ran in eight tries with Ashley Chalk leading the way with a brace, while Scott Williams, Lewis Jordan, James McFarlane, Lee Fairclough and Connor James all crossed the whitewash. Tom Weaver added 17 points with the boot.

Corsham were undone at Swindon College Old Boys, who ran out 26-5 victors with wing Kieran Broughton scoring for the visitors.
