Hunt takes top honours

AFTER heavy overnight rain the Avon around Keynsham was running high and coloured for the South West Winter League match resulting in low weights and plenty of dry nets.

Bathampton Avon Aquatics took team honours with 58 points followed by Preston Innovation Thatchers with 57 and Sensas Thyers with 53.

Individual honours went to Graham Hunt, of Bathampton, with a mixed catch of roach, bream and eels weighing just 4lb 11oz, taken alternating with pole and legered worm and red maggots. Robert Jones, of Thatchers, was second with an all-roach catch weighing 3lb 10oz, taken on feeder fished worm and red maggots. He was followed by Paul Barnfield, of Amalgamated Fisheries, with a mixed catch weighing 2lb 15oz.

Other placings: 4 Guy Manton, Preston Innovation Thatchers, 2lb 11oz 8dm; 5; Dave Gillman, Bathampton Avon Aquatics, 2lb 3oz; 6 Tony Goodland, Sensas Thyers, 1lb 15oz 8dm.
