FROME Town produced a dramatic late show to beat Chard Town 3-1 at Badgers Hill on Saturday, with all their three goals coming in a 10 minute burst.
The victory saw The Robins beat Chard for the second time in eight days and ensured they made it six wins in a row.
Neither team could find fluency or urgency early on, and it was 20 minutes before the first chance, Clough volleying over from the edge of the Frome area. Chard had stopper Hutchings to thank for keeping the scores level moments later when he bravely dived at Mark Salter’s feet when the striker was through on goal.
The visitors took the lead in the 35th minute as Hurford’s shot was parried by Rich Fey but Simmons drove the ball home right-footed from 15 yards.
Frome had the ball in the net after 40 minutes as Sam Duggan lobbed Hutchings from 20 yards, but the goal was disallowed for offside.
The hosts came within inches of an equaliser on the hour as Matt Rawlins’ header clipped the outside of the upright. The Robins finally equalised in the 74th minute as Liam Fussell's corner was headed into the net by new boy Greg Lake.
A minute later Frome were ahead as Duggan cut in from the right wing and played in Rawlins, and the striker dinked the ball over Hutchings to make it 2-1.
The game was ended as a contest by Mark Salter when he latched onto Sam Duggan’s through ball and struck low into the corner.
Frome boss Andy Crabtree admitted it had been the proverbial game of two halves.
He said: “Chard scored against the run of play but we were a bit lacklustre in the first half. In the second half we came out a different side. Once we scored I don’t think there was any doubt who was going to win.”
Frome’s match at Melksham Town on Monday was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.
