CORSHAM’S seconds made it a cup double for the club with a Dorset and Wilts 2nd XV Cup win, but at a cost.

Home winger Dominic Giraud suffered a broken ankle as he was tackled just short of the try line midway through the first half. He has a double fracture and faces a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

The home side were 10-0 up at this stage, courtesy of a try from scrum-half Denzil Brockhurst, converted by half-back partner Dan Goldsworthy, and after a five-minute delay North Dorset hit back to level at half-time.

Corsham restored their lead with a try from Roy Hewett, while at the other end the defensive work of Jim Bennett and Martin Shepperdson held the visitors at bay. North Dorset eventually breached the line, but in a grandstand finish winger Tony Iacono broke through for the decisive score, Goldsworthy converting.
