Cricket: Beehive Bradford, full of confidence after their recent run of fine form, paid host to lowly Trowbridge A in Division 3 of the wiltshire league.
Needing a win to keep the pressure on the top 2 Beehive won the toss and elected to field first.
Another good opening bowling spell from J Andrew (3 Wkts 31 Runs) & James Hall clawed back the run rate after some early intent and aggresion from Solomon.
Although the several of the Trowbridge batsmen got in they failed to convert their starts into innings of any significance being pegged back by hostile bowling from Ady Day and fine spin bowling from the skipper Zim lapham. On a day when the Beehive fielding was on the inconsistent side with several easy chances going to ground the bowlers had to toil hard for wickets with the normally reliable wicketkeeper Ivan Mahney making the ball appear like a bar of soap.
So it was left to Vice Skipper Ady Day to roll back the years with a blinding catch running back at full pelt to take a quality catch over his shoulder to much cheer from his team mates.Surely this would galvanise the team to chase down the moderate total of 155 set by Trowbridge.
Trowbridge bowled good tight lines until Gary Collins decided to up a gear and despatch several good mlooking shots to the boundary.
Consistant batting from the Beehive middle order with Mike Spong the main contributer with a robust 37 saw Beehive edging ever closer to victory.
However the steady spin bowling of M Mullis (5wkts 59 Runs)had other ideas and wicket by wicket were dragging themselves into the game.
With 3 wickets in hand Kevin Kellins finally got Beehive over the finishing line with a solid 4 through the covers to the obvious delight of the ex Beehive hall of fame players.
