Frome Town 1, Laverstock and Ford 3

Frome Town's hesitant start in pre-season games continued as they were soundly beaten at home by Laverstock & Ford team from the Wessex Premier League.

The first half saw a finely balanced game, with Frome probably just having the better of the chances, as Gomes shot just over with a free kick in the 5th minute and a Whittington left wing cross just evaded Salter in the 12th minute. However, as the half wore on Laverstock started to assert themselves more and more, with their right winger Bamba causing problems on the right wing with his pace and skill, and they took the lead in the 41st minute as a free kick on the right wing was curled across the Frome goal and the unmarked McAlee rose to head downwards into the corner of the goal.

Laverstock increased their lead in the 69th minute as Bamba scored a classic wingers goal as he cut inside his defender, made ground and shot low into the corner of the net for a well taken goal. The 76th minute saw Laverstock take a 3-0 lead as Safe won the race to a ball on the edge of Frome area and drilled home a first time low shot that nestled in the near corner of the net.

Frome scored their first goal of the season in the 84th minute as an Eyre left wing cross was headed home by Millard to make the score 3-1 to the vistors, and a final flourish almost reduced the deficit as a Lake shot was just cleared, and Gomes went close at the near post, but it wasn't to be, and Laverstock were worth their win on the day.
