DEVIZES Town recorded their second away win in a row on Saturday and their first consecutive victories of the season with a 1-0 win at Portishead Town.
Joint-boss Kevin Whitbread was pleased with his side’s performance, saying: “I think that we’ve been threatening to do that for a while,” he said.
“Everyone played really well and their attitudes were spot on.
“We were hit hard by the Shrewton game (a 6-0 defeat) but everybody rolled their sleeves up and dug in.
“We’ve got a run of games coming up that we’re confident of picking up some points from, starting at Bridport this weekend.
“However, they were beaten 5-0 by Clevedon on Saturday so their manager will be looking for a reaction.”
Rob Mitchell got the game’s only goal after half an hour, finishing well after he was set up by Dan Baker.
Striker Terry Moore, signed from Wiltshire League outfit KC’s Club, missed the game after joining Whitbread’s side last week and making his debut in the 2-1 win over Clevedon United.
“He’s a good striker who holds the ball up well and brings other players into play,” said Whitbread.
Devizes have no major injury worries ahead of this weekend’s trip to 15th placed Bridport, with Jake Roberts expected to return to the matchday squad.
